Ian Herzog-Pohl is a computational biologist by day and a music writer by night. First learning about the local DIY scene in early 2025, he quickly fell in love with the bands and the community around them. However, while a ton goes on the scene every year, little information is available online as most band’s online presence is limited to a Spotify account and Instagram. To improve these valuable records, he made it his mission to interview different local bands to save their stories and celebrate the incredible creativity and community present in Pittsburgh. When not at home writing and studying, you can find him jamming out in an Oakland basement or wandering the parks of Pittsburgh.
